Readers / purchasers should bear in mind before buying this product that this unit although rated at IP44 ie splash resistant only, can (in heavy rain) top up with water via the lense seal and then the water enters the PIR sensor case stopping the light from working. My suggestion is to use clear silicon sealant around the lense rim and PIR bulb case prior to its installation. Apart from that I'm very pleased with the light.

Quite a neat little gizmo - plus points are that it is self contained and self powered unit that is easy to fit and needs no wiring. It produces enough light to see your way to open a door/climb stairs/etc at night, but not as bright as a mains powered light.
UPDATE Sept 2010: My 'Solar Welcome Door Light' failed after about 18 months use. I struggled to get the supplier to replace it (they tried fobbing me off by saying it was out of warranty) and a 'Sale of Goods Act' letter was required to get them to replace it.

This solar-powered outside light gives you a cheap and easy way of throwing light on your situation. But don't think you are getting a security light; it is just not powerful enough for that. But if you have an unlit exterior entrance this is just to job to help you find your keyhole, or your dog, in the dark. Of course the great advantage with this product is that you don't need an electricity supply and you don't need an electrician to fit it.
